Through Module One, you will identify the negative beliefs and triggers associated with your child’s traumatic past.  You will come to understand how your child’s difficult past may have interfered with a secure attachment to you and how you can change that. You will gain initial strategies for helping your child develop healthy beliefs about their self, others, and the world.

Through Module Two, you will discover how a mindful approach versus an emotional approach can more effectively calm and heal your child’s “survival brain.” You will be able to apply steps for emotional attunement, play, and physical connection that will help with your child’s emotional and cognitive development and increase feelings of closeness for both of you.

Through Module Three, you will develop effective responses to challenging behaviors such as aggression, defiance, stealing, lying, food issues, and sexual reactivity. You will be able to identify the three phases of your child’s meltdowns and how to respond effectively to each phase.

Module Four addresses the emotional challenges of parenting a traumatized child. You will be able to identify common issues parents face related to grief, marriage or partnership, and extended family. You will discover why traumatic events in your own past may be impacting your reactions to your child. You will gain strategies for healthy self-care and learn how to replace your own “negative thoughtdominoes” with new,  more positive ones.

In Module Five, you will learn to avoid the pitfalls of emotion-driven parenting and learn strategies for discipline that will improve your child’s behaviors without damaging the relationship. Learn strategies for pre-teaching, post-teaching, detective skills, and consequences with attunement. Trauma-informed discipline will bring your child closer to you and improve your child’s ability to think and connect.
